Hello everyone,

Since upgrading from 7.4.7 to 9.0.3 I am experiencing two problems that have
severely affected my backups.

I will describe the first problem here, and the other will be in another email
shortly.

Problem 1: Whenever a job wants a volume that does not have a slot defined in
the catalog, it begins logging the following three lines to the catalog and to
the bacula.log file at a rate of about 50,000 thousand times per hour. Yes,
THAT many:

----8<----
01-Oct 11:17 speedy-sd JobId 17136: No slot defined in catalog (slot=0) for
Volume "c0_0008_0060" on "speedy_drv_7"
(/var/lib/bacula/vchanger/speedy-file/7).
01-Oct 11:17 speedy-sd JobId 17136: Cartridge change or "update slots" may be
required.
01-Oct 11:17 speedy-sd JobId 17136: Warning: mount.c:210 Open of File device
"speedy_drv_7" (/var/lib/bacula/vchanger/speedy-file/7) Volume "c0_0008_0060"
failed: ERR=file_dev.c:190 Could not
open(/var/lib/bacula/vchanger/speedy-file/7,OPEN_READ_WRITE,0640): ERR=No such
file or directory
----8<----

The reason that a volume does not have a slot defined is due to the fact that
I am using vchanger (1.0.1), and any volumes that are not available in one of
my changer devices have their "inchanger" and "slot" fields set to zero in the
catalog.

This problem only began once I upgraded from 7.4.7 to 9.0.3.

Here is that volume in question:
