To be able to use existing volumes, this seems to be necessary. For media type in the volume labels, I am not sure if Bacula uses this property in normal SD working with volumes. For sure, this old MediaType will be reverted to the catalog if you use "bscan" on these volumes in the future. Good luck and please let us know how it worked.
