Unfortunately, there is some validity to your observation about the present degree of LP party unity. However, I can't think of any way that giving the LP ten more months for ballot access, especially here in Ohio, and our presidential candidate the opportunity to campaign for ten more months will make us less unified and a shortening of our equivalent of the primary season will at least give us the opportunity to become more unified earlier. For Ohioans reading this, Portland is about a three and a half day drive from Cleveland (at 700 miles per day) and probably about the same from Columbus or Cincinnati unless you are transporting pregnant women, small children or the infirm.
