Christians talk a lot about how Jesus had to endure so much pain during His
crucifixion, and how that was necessary for salvation. I've heard stories
about various martyrs in the Faith being in such a spiritual state that they
did not feel physical pain under torture. Wouldn't it therefore be the same
for Jesus, a Messenger of God? Wouldn't we expect that all of the stuff
depicted in Mel Gibson's movie was not actually painful for Jesus? Or does
being in the right spiritual state only result in feeling no pain for
certain people? I've seen movies where Jesus is crying out in pain. If
true, that would make Him worse than a lot of people I can think of in the
history of the Faith. The Bible doesn't actually ever say that Jesus cried
or anything as a result of what was done to Him.
David
