Dear Gilberto,

But you seem to be criticizing us for telling the story of our own
persecution.

Then you misunderstand me. Where did I say that Bahais shouldn't talk about being persecuted??? By all means, tell your own history. But as a Muslim, it is only natural for me to look at how Muslims are being portrayed in that history.

"My hope is that by talking about it now, Bahais of good will might
recognize this potential in their community and would work just a teeny bit
harder to prove me wrong... not by simply denying and refusing to accept
what I'm saying, but by actually being a little bit more careful with how
they are thinking about other religious communities.
If you have no interest in doing so, that also doesn't bode well for the
future."

Oh, I am interested in doing so, but not with a Muslim unless I have seen
them go on record admonishing their fellow Muslims to stop the persecution
of Baha'is.

I don't know any Muslims who actually persecute Bahais!!!! I'm not a Shia. I'm not Iranian. I have absolutely no pull with the Iranian government. I get along pretty well with the Bahais I know face-to-face. If you yourself haven't been persecuted by Muslims, and I haven't persecuted any Bahais, then we should be able to talk about this as individuals without you trying to pull "the religion card".

Peace

Gilberto
