I was just wondering what would happen if a person who was in a gay marriage wanted to become a Baha'i. Firstly, could they become a Baha'i while married? If they could then I was wondering if divorce would be a problematic issue. Let's say that through personal effort they overcame their problem. Would they be allowed to divorce their partner if they did not feel intense antipathy towards their partner, the only requisite given for divorce in the Baha'i Writings? Or does this requisite assume a legitimate marriage, thus allowing the formerly gay person to divorce their partner without antipathy? If they couldn't become a Baha'i while married then I suppose they could get around the problem, as they weren't a Baha'i they could divorce for whatever reason they wanted to.
