david, given susan's insiteful comment on another thread, i would offer u a
quick bit of reading, u can find around...guy named newman, 19th century,
somethuing like "purpose of a liberal educcation." this mayy give u a better
sense of "liberal" "progressive" etc in terms less contaminated by the games of
a decaying civilisation.
from that tighter definition you will probably gbet insites on the degreer to
which the binary, either/or woprld is over, and a paradigm of "twin" as notable
on the ring seal...:-) is more the case....science >>and<< religion, not
>>or<<. "rational" logic >>and<< "mystic" connection..not or.
out of this, as sen notes, may come an enhanced ability to accurately portray
how the Faith's ways of measuring the value of ideas to others may lead to
improvements in their ability to spend time/energy making the world "better"
according to the Standards set by the Choice Wine. imho that is the essence of
teaching.
