Does anyone know of any extended treatment of the role of
scholars/divines in the Bahai community, in addition to that by
Bahiyyih Nakhjavani in _Asking Questions.?

I'm working on a piece on the topic, which begins with this quote

==
"Those divines [`ulama'], ... who are truly adorned with the ornament
of knowledge and of a goodly character are, verily, as a head to the
body of the world, and as eyes to the nations. The guidance of men
hath, at all times, been and is dependent upon these blessed souls."
(Baha'u'llah, Epistle to the Son of the Wolf, 16-17)

If the guidance of the world depends, in Baha'u'llah's vision, on
these divines, why is the topic not treated in our public literature,
in the published introductory literature on the Bahai Faith? Bahiyyih
Nakhjavani has addressed it, in _Asking Questions, but has made her
task easy by positing that the Bahai Faith is "profoundly
anticlerical"and not citing conflicting evidence. [other authors?]
This remains a largely unploughed field, and if I could just find an
accredited supervisor for it, I would love to make it a PhD topic.
