This is a spontaneous continuation of the does God really intervene in the world to answer prayer previous topic. More links are needed. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prayer_in_the_Bahá%27%C3%AD_Faith Bahá'u'lláh, the Báb — who told of Bahá'u'lláh's coming — and `Abdu'l-Baha wrote hundreds of prayers; many of these prayers where originally included in letters to individuals. Most of these prayers were written in Arabic and Persian, and `Abdu'l-Baha wrote a few inTurkish.[1] A large number of these prayers have been translated in English and many hundreds of languages; the short obligatory prayer has been translated into 501 languages.[4] Prayers have been written for awakening, for travelling, healing, spiritual growth, detachment, protection, forgiveness, assistance, and unity, among others.[3] The prayers may be said aloud, sung and/or repeated, and the text should not be changed. When saying a general prayer, one does not need to face the Qiblih.[1] Bahá'í prayers vary considerably in form; however a typical prayer starts with the supplication of the attributes of God, then a statement of praise, and then a request such as guidance or protection. The end of the prayer is usually composed of a list of God's attributes. The prayers often use imagery, including references to Islamic literature and Persian poetry.[1] Bab and Bahaullah spoke and wrote in Arabic and Persian and thus used Islamic terms to refer to prayer. The links are at the top of the email. Anyone familiar with Islam or the Islamic view of prayer will have noticed the problems with the views in the earlier topic slash thread. The earlier email basically said that God only answers Dua of the religious category. The Islamic position is that Muslims should pray both categories, religious and worldly or secular Dua. Any archive of Bahai prayers will show general prayers of both categories. Also, look at the Pre-conditions and why duas are not answered sections. The Bahai position that only religious duas are of any value to be prayed and that God only rarely intervenes in the world, either to protect or to propagate his latest and most recent divine cause. Such a position fulfills several of the categories that nullify Dua.
