The attitudes expressed in opposition to Baha'is
getting tatooed are outdated. In the current culture,
tatoos are a form of social communication. I would
think it would be inappropriate for a Baha'i to get a
KKK tat or something that was clearly in direct
opposition to Baha'i principles. On the other hand,
it might be quite appropriate for someone to get a tat
of the greatest name or "One Planet - One People"
tatooed on their arm or leg where the social
communication would be clear and in accordance with
Baha'i principles.
I think that it is also a matter of being
generationally appropriate. In the youth, this has
become an acceptable form of social communication
crossing lines of class, social position and ethnic
heritage. For earlier generations, it would probably
be less acceptable as it is not their social norm.
