Dear Elianna,

The impact of the Phoenicians on Greek civilization is well-established and recognized. It is generally thought they were responsible for bringing the Greeks out of the Dark Ages following the Dorian invasion.

"I wonder if any of the ancient histories referred to by Abdu'l-baha could
have been Phoenician in origin?"

Not to my knowledge. All of thos sources appear to go back to Philo of Alexandria who lived much later.

One last request, my eldest daughter has challenged me to come up with a
good argument against re-incarnation. While I did refer to Abdul-Baha's
eminently sensible answer in Some Answered Questions, this did not satisfy
her. So, maybe you could supply me with some 'logically coherent' arguments
regarding the fallacy of re-incarnation
.

Well, for one thing, reincarnation would lead to things getting inevitably worse, not better. The only way we learn from our mistakes is by remembering them. But in reincarnation you don't usually remember your previous mistakes. And since if you live a bad life you are going to be in a worse position the next time around you are going to be even more susceptible to sin. Hence, it is a downward spiral.

warmest, Susan
