Dear Dean,

With respect, I urge you to consider the wisdom of what Khazeh has tried to
explain to you below. Did you read it? I do not see any indication that
you did, and I never saw any acknowledgement that you did.

I read it. I don't see why I would need to respond to it, however. Sure, I will try to ask more valuable questions, but with due respect to Khazeh he is totally off base in stating that any small issues preoccupy me. I have probably raised any such issues once about every three or four days on this list, in an e-mail taking about five minutes to write. I virtually never respond to any responses to my questions, as they are generally answered to my satisfaction, and in rare situations that I do the response might take a few minutes. Some of my questions have been big issues, and I have responded to the threads of others on such issues. So far from any small issues taking up 10 hours of my day or whatever, totally preventing me from concentrating on major issues like the Five Year Plan, it's more like ten minutes a week! And yes, I do concentrate on the major issues with the other 6 days 23 hours and 50 minutes of my week. Khazeh talks about apologetics in relation to attacks on the Faith (and I must say, I think Khazeh frequently believes written responses to particular attacks are absolutely necessary, whereas I think a response would be futile and, interestingly enough, a waste of his time), yet he knows that I have written a fair bit on the subject, so evidently am not prevented from concentrating on the major things. Furthermore, I am very active in my Baha'i community, am in a committee, am the archivist, and have given worthwhile deepenings. An earlier assertion of Khazeh that we were all ignoring the important things in the Five Year Plan was based on the fact that we had been discussing a minor issue for a mere two days. Between us, the messages on that thread probably took half an hour to write, which means that we may have been spending the rest of our day on those very things he thought we should be doing. Khazeh really can't know how I spend the bulk of my time. Even if minor issues took up two hours of my day, there is still a lot of my day left, and enough time for me to spend far MORE time on the important issues than the average Baha'i. That is the issue, that one spends time on those issues, isn't it? If it is, then even spending a moderate amount of time on other things wouldn't be much of an issue.

David
