Dear Don,

These ongoing guidances from the UHJ have the purpose of giving the
believers a wider latitude of thinking about leadership in the society. As
Baha'is we should consider ourselves above present politics and aloof of
them as far as their leaders get there thinking of their own advantage
rather than the Baha'i view of the leadership which is a painful servitude
to mankind which is equivalent to servitude to God.

UHJ guidance contains, as always, extreme flexibility for all situations and
leaves a wide latitude of action for the believer to enter into serving
mankind in an ever-increasing role while the face of the politics is cleared
of the well-known corruptions and machinations. The believer, in this way,
is kept aloof of the present corrupt methods of nominations for leadership,
and enters if non-Baha'is have reached such degree of maturity and majority
and despair in their societies that come up to Baha'is for help and see
which of the believers has displayed lack of prejudice and other qualities
they need for their leaders, and then such non-Baha'is beg this Baha'i
individual to come and lead the way, and that Baha'i at this stage seems to
be mature enough not to fall in the traps of corrupt leadership of any
specific group against all others, and UHJ guidance guarantees that if he is
not yet reached that stage of maturity then the Institutions guide him
further so that a true Baha'i leadership only be realized by the individual
believer.

This situation as I stated may not exist yet in North America, but is
gradually coming to exist especially, in 3rd world countries where the
political systems are totally collapsing and as time passes people more and
more come to Baha'is for help.

Regards,
Max.

|Tnx much for these citations Max. They support my

|I had wondered about this, as I could not see how we could
|prohibit all forms of electioneering by non-Baha'is. Without
|this proviso, I could see a situation where anti-Baha'i forces
|could force a Baha'i to reject election by openly campaigning
|*for* them.
|
|I suspect several people have 'talked up' my candidacy this
|time; but it is really irrelevant to the outcome since there
|were only 5 of us 'running' for 5 positions.
