Hi! Thanks Nav and Hrishi for the useful advice! Update on tyres:-
Yesterday = Trip to Karol Bagh on a full blown yet nice winter Sunday afternoon. Shop owners sleepy + shivery but out to convince me to buy whatever they have to sell. Zapper 'Q' = out of stock and uncertain future stock in 90/90 variant. 100/90 (old stock - 1 piece available at one outlet, may not be available tommorrow) on a P150 :- many people are saying bigger tyre is not desirable. Reasons given by them :- 1) Engine par jore padega (strain on the engine) 2) Petrol jyada lagega (Dip in fuel efficiency) 3) Speed kam milegi kyonki 150 hai. (Lower speed and pickup as it is a 150) 4) Wheel bearing and chain sprocket set will go soon. 5) Actually it is a front wheel tyre ! Zapper 'C' seems to be plenty much in stock. It is in 3.00 X 18 size. I am told that the difference between 'C' and 'Q' is just of the tread pattern. Is this correct? Also, there is this MRF Moto 'C' that also seems to be as much in stock. I was told that these do not puncture or skid easily as they have a lot of rubber on them, and the tread is anti skid and can take on dirt roads with ease. Very helpfully, one shop wala adviced me " Agar uncle ji, aap bike chalayenge, toh yeh tyre he leejiye. Lekin agar aapka ladka chalayega, usshe to Zapper he pasand aayega. Waise raaz ki baat batayen toh in ladkon ke khel ke liye company ne Zapper - Wapper banaya. Asli tyre toh Moto he hai" (*Translation *= Uncle Ji, if you are going to ride the bike, the Moto C is the choice for you. If your son has to ride the bike then he will be happy with the Zapper. Otherwise to tell you a secret, these Zapper - Wapper tyres are for kids to play with. Actual tyre is a Moto C) At 45 looking like 50+ with grey hair - whatever are left on my balding head - in any case hearing such advice is not new. I refrained from telling him that my elder son is only 12, but told him that my son has to ride the bike to maintain this chaps motivation to look around even his 'associates' stocks to check if there are any Moto Q tyres around. Inspite of this, he failed to find a 90/90. So I am back to square 1. No tyre purchased. New questions emerging thus:- Should I get a Zapper ' C ' or Moto 'C', or still wait for the Q to arrive on the scene from somewhere ? Is it that bad to put a wider tyre on the rear wheel, as it is made out to be? Thanks! Rajeev. Chevy Chase - "Parrots make great pets. They have more personality than goldfish."
