Hi Venkat, gurus,

I ride a Pulsar 180 (Classic) 2002 model.

Two weeks back I had the bike serviced (at Reddy's - Goregaon, Mumbai). During
this Reddy pointed out that there was oil leaking from the top of the head
(fins) and told me that he would replace the gasket. After this there have been
no oil traces on the head.

My problem is that before the service, my bike would easily do 100+ kph even
with a pillion. Climbing up of flyovers was a breeze, and the bike would
accelerate even while climbing up (again with pillion). This was inspite of the
oil leak.

Now, after servicing, when I try to accelerate above 90 kph EVEN WHEN I AM
SINGLE, the bike falters as if the carb is not receiving enough fuel (just like
it does when it is bout to go into reserve). The engine sound also becomes
slightly deeper and hollow. I have just not been able to touch 100 after the
servicing.

I just tried out one thing - when the engine started to falter above 90, I put
on the choke, and the engine purred on smoothly as if receiving proper fuel
supply.

Also after the service, while climbing flyovers, the bike seems to be straining
for power, and sometimes I have to downshift to a lower gear.

(a) I assume that the carburator setting / tuning is not proper. Is my
assumption correct ?

(b) Is is possible to tune up the carb myself (DIY) without having to go to a
mechanic? If YES, can someone tell me what to do (i.e. which screw to turn in
which direction and how much etc.)

Thanks in advance

Warmest regards,

Kiron
