Intinya:
1. Posisi L itu "Low", gigi '1'. Digunakan untuk tanjakan berat.
2. Posisi 2 itu seperti D, tp ditahan hanya sampai gigi '2'. Jadi
transmisi hanya bermain di gigi '1' & '2' saja. Bisa digunakan di
jalur mendaki dan merayap, tujuannya mencegah transmisi ganti ke gigi
'3'. Supaya tenaga ga nge-drop.
3. Posisi D itu "Drive". Disini ada 2 kondisi:
    -. Di dashboard indicator "O/D Off" nyala. Berarti transmisi hanya
bermain di gigi '1', '2' dan '3'. Digunakan untuk jalur mendaki
(puncak misalnya), dimana cukup memakai sampai dengan gigi '3' saja.
Tujuannya untuk mencegah transmisi mengganti ke gigi '4' untuk memberi
efek "engine brake", dan supaya tenaga tdk terlalu drop dan tdk
terlalu bnyk pindah gigi.
     -. Di dashboard indicator "O/D Off" mati. Berarti transmisi
bermain di gigi '1', '2', '3' dan '4'. Digunakan untuk mengendarai di
jalan biasa, dalam kota dan tol.
note: Indicator O/D ini ada yg berbeda di mobil2 lain. Ada mobil yg
nyala indicatornya ketika O/D-nya ON, ada juga justru nyala
indicatornya ketika O/D-nya OFF. Di Baleno Next-G justru nyala ketika
O/D-nya OFF.

Jadi walaupun matik, kt msh bs memindahkan gigi secara manual, namun
tidak boleh terlalu sering dilakukan (tidak seperti tiptronik),
misalkan:    
-. dari 2 ke L (dari gigi '2' ke '1') dan sebaliknya.
-. dari O/D ON ke O/D OFF (dari gigi '4' ke '3')
-. dari D ke 2. Ini hati2 karena bisa saja tranmisi saat itu berada di
posisi gigi '4', ketika dipindahkan, maka langsung masuk ke gigi '2'.
