Om Swastiastu! As an inhabitant of Pemaron I am very, very concerned about the planning of PT. Power Indonesia and I spent already so much time to inform myself and give my information to many other people – because only an informed people can decide wise. Sometimes I cannot believe what is going on and I think it is better to share my time with my children instead of getting involved in this problem, but especially because of my children and my big love to our island I will go on.
Actually, I already wanted to write to this mailing list much earlier, but the barbarous attack from 12.October took all my energy and I felt like paralysed. But the reality is, that there is still the planning to built up this PLTGU - that means in this case nothing has changed and we must go on to avoid the next catastrophe from Bali. The bomb of Kuta let us feel now, how it is to live from tourism. We know it before but to feel it, is something different. I think since there is tourism in Bali, the Balinese never were fearing so much about how their live will go on like nowadays. And it will not only be the people who work directly for tourism, whose economic will drop down – all the other business will feel it, because of the crises now so many people will not have enough money for any single luxury goods. We just can pray that there still will come enough guests to hold us alive, if there will happen another attack – I think the disaster will be indescribable. On this place I want to express my deepest mourning to all the dead and injured victims… After the bomb I got many emails from foreign countries and I could feel, how much loved is our beautiful island. So many supports - that’s great! And now my question to all the responsible people in the government, PT. PLN and PT. Power Indonesia: WHY YOU THINK BALI IS SUCH A LOVED ISLAND IN THE WORLD AND CALLED PARADISE ISLAND??? I think the most facts are (only in short term) (actually you know it better than me) - the culture - the religion - the nature - the friendliness of the people Because I still look like a tourist J, tourists speak different with me, more honest and directly compare with a Balinese people. And already long time I got informed about two things that many tourists complain about: 1. Environmental problem like visible waste all over the island and in the sea! 2. To aggressive sellers on the tourist’s spots. These are already reasons that some guests will not come to Bali again. And now this horrible terrorist attack in Kuta. So many guests will not come to Bali in the next future, but still many people will come especially to help with their visit the Balinese people. Because they still believe in the “last paradise”. And, by the way, I think a lot of people will come maybe now especially to the North of Bali, that’s what I heard from many friends. And what you think they will feel welcomed by tanker ships and an old power plant with underwater-pipeline in the sea??? You really believe this will have no influence on tourism? You think only a few restaurants and hotels will have troubles??? And what about the influence for the environment because of the exhaust gas pollution? There are many ways to produce or import energy – tourists you cannot import…… Please think about, how much people directly and indirectly lives from the tourism here in the North. I am sure nearly every shop and business from Singaraja till Seririt would get heavy losses, from the fish seller till the motorbike-seller… And for what all this problems? Actually, I don’t know, because it is like impossible for the public, to get neutral information about this project. I am very sad about this, because I cannot understand why the investors and the government forget, that a big case like the PLTGU should be introduced in a good way to the mature citizens. Till now I have the hope that there were maybe some misunderstandings and that the responsible people see soon that a few things going wrong. I still trust in the competence of the investor and the government. But only if they soon are willing to communicate with us. Till now, I am really disappointed about this, no communication from the side of PT. Power Indonesia with the public. And please - I don’t want to think about it - that the official paper we got from Power Indonesia with the drawing shall be all what the public can get as information? That is no information at all for all people who have a little bit science knowledge and should be an insult to all the responsible people in the government if they get the feeling they are not able to read better technical details. Please, dear Sirs in the responsible positions, many people here really take care of the problem and our slogan is not – no electricity for Bali but: UNPROFFESIONAL PRODUCTION OF ELECTRICITY THAT IS HARMFUL TO THE ENVIRONMENT – NO! A WISE AND CLEVER ENERGY POLITIC FOR BALI – YES!!!!!! Slowly I want to come now to the end of my thoughts. Please remember what I told before concerning our waste problem in Bali. There are much more clever people than me who can think about this – we need energy and we have a lot of garbage. What about we built a modern WASTE INCINERATION PLANT on Bali (or on East-Java)? What we need is a good and wise energy politic for all Bali. This is not anymore a problem of North-Bali, but of Bali. And we can only solve this for all over Bali together or even with Java and thinking about to repair the underwater cable. By the way, many time I heard that Bali want to be independent with the electricity production from Java – sorry, but I did not know before that we have our own oil-resources here!!!!! Enough joking, where the oil comes from? Is this independence? But sorry, waste we have really enough here….. I would have now many questions, but I will not ask them, because till now I got never an answer – what is really a pity… I just regret, that Power Indonesia or PLN or the government see us like “ENEMIES”. This we are not at all, because actually we want the same what all people want – to protect our wonderful island, which already suffers so much through the tragedy of 12. October and the own people should not destroy it more. And I know, that this is the same what a responsible government want whose leader even asked for getting helped to protect Buleleng by the Gods.
