Field Marshal,
Allow me to congratulate you upon your appointment to His Majesty's
Government and elevation to Vicomte. I apologise for the fact that the
rather pressing unpleasantness in which I have been completely immersed
recently has left me little opportunity to tender my congratulations
previously.
You may recall that a couple of months ago there was something of a mix-up
at the Field Marshal's Office. As I understand it, Lieutenant-General
Culvert d'Eau applied for the post of Adjutant General, you duly ordered his
appointment, but then some paperwork went missing and General Dorado was
mistakenly appointed in his stead?
Perhaps you would be kind enough to let me whether or not it has since
proven possible to rectify this unfortunate error?
