Fortune certainly seems to have been smiling upon you since you left the old
regiment, with a (long overdue) promotion to Major last month and a
prestigious appointment this. Well done indeed! I'm sure that all of Paris
must be breathing a sight of relief that you were able to secure
responsibility for the Commission rather than...the other candidate.
It was good to see Ronda and yourself at the ball last month - I'll be sure
to have my secretary include you on the guest list should I host one in May
(presuming that your Brigadier doesn't take you back to the front early).
Regarding April, Chevalier Jacques requested that I don't do anything to
decrease attendance at his Stag week, which I expect you will be attending?
I'll be tied up at Army HQ for most of the remainder of the month, I'm
afraid. So, if I don't get the chance to see you beforehand, congratulations
upon your government appoint and good luck in the Summer Campaign.
