Chevalieuse Laurel, Falling to me is the sad duty of informing you of the heroic demise in the service of His Majesty of your respected husband, Lt.General le Chevalier Jacques Inzabox. The Lt.General was struck down by an enemy cannon whilst leading his men from the front in the assault which they had been ordered to carry out, as was ever his style. Death was instantaneous and you may be assured that he did not suffer at all thereby. Lt.General Inzabox was one of His Majesty's foremost commanders and France will feel his loss greatly in the difficult months ahead. It has fallen to me to continue the sterling work with the 2nd Division which he so bravely began. Your sudden widowhood following on so quickly from your wedding is especially poignant, Madame, and you may be assured that the thoughts of both myself and Princess Louisa are with you during this trying time.
