Sir,
I wished to congratulate you on your successful promotion, which of course
made room for mine, but more importantly on a very successful defense of
France during July. The men are in excellent morale as there were many
displays of excellent military skill and percisision along with heroics that
are the strength of the King's Musketeers.
In addition, I wish to make note that I have applied as a the adjutant to
Lt. General le Comte d'Armagnac to gain experience with the use of calvary
units during war to be better able to help coordinate between the King's
Musketeers and cavalry units during battles. With this in mind, I also wish
to express the opinion that only one of the senior officers of the regiment
have a military appointment at any given time. I realize that of now you
have the appointment as the Minister of Justice and that this should not
cause a problem at this time.
Lastly, I caught wind of a screw up in offering a commission to a Marquis by
the Cardinal's Guards. I went ahead and made contact with the Marquis to
see about enticing him to join the King's Musketeers. I wished to be able
to possibly offer him a commission as a Captain, but we have excellent
Captains currently, so was willing to match the Cardinal's Guards offer of a
Subaltern commission but with a sttipend as outlined previously by our
former commander.
