Congratulations on your recent appointment as
Captain of the King's Escort. I must confess to being somewhat surprised, as
Marquis de Santon gave no indication that he planned to retire when I enquired
about admittance last month.
Enclosed is my application for the post of Trooper
of the King's Escort. Given the current understaffing and the consequent danger
to His Majesty's safety, I am eager to assume the role as swiftly as possible.
I look forward with great anticipation to your
meeting on All Hallows Eve. Major Adique has gracefully offered to grant me
leave from regimental duties for the night so that I may attend. Might I
also be so bold as to bring along a bottle of rather fine wine that I have
recently received, that I may toast your rumoured forthcoming
"debate"?
