My Dear Baron,
thank you for your kind words. I am indeed very satisfied that His
Majesty has seen me fit to lead the government this year. I will do my
utmost not to disappoint His Majesty.
About appointing you Minister without portfolio, I cannot give any
promises right now since there might be several other applicants. Also,
I intend not to appoint any ministers without portfolios, instead each
minister should have one area of responsibility, even though they
formally have no portfolios. Examples of such responsibilities are
culture, the colonies and integration of conquered territories.
However, since I believe you are a very compeltent man, I think it is
highly likely that I will look favourably upon your application when I
have received all applications.
About Duc de Mylcandonai I will, as I have said earlier, not pursue any
charges against him. What France needs now is not another internal
conflict or scandal. However, given the discussions Duc de Mylcandonai
and I have had about the roles of the ministers I will not actively give
him any support should he apply for Minister of War, since his view of
the government differs so much from mine. The Duke also earlier
expressed that his primary goals were to pursue a military career, not a
political career.
The decision to appoint the Minister of War however is His Majesty's and
should He choose to appoint de Mylcandonai I will naturally cooperate
with him completely.
