The rumours you have heard regarding Senior are correct. I do believe that
you mentioned the fact that his mother once ran a prestigious military
tailors to me previously. As to Grosscanard, who knows what fate holds for
him? He has resigned his commission in the Queen's, but seems unlikely to be
successful in having one of the posts you mention created specifically for
him. I can only assume that he is hanging around Paris until the Summer
Campaign takes the vast majority of patriotic gentlemen to the front once
more in order to see how many he can safely cuckold next year. You will
recall, of course, that his treason conviction centred upon his efforts to
glean sensitive information from the consorts of highly placed officers and
ministers?
It seems that the purchase of Petit Masure may have to be delayed again, I
fear. Should my efforts be successful I will be faced with considerable
demands upon my meagre funds next month, I fear. I should be able to effect
the purchase of Petit Masure shortly thereafter, however.
