Hi Joshua, Sorry for the late reply - after some discussion and digging into the code, we came to the conclusion that it was still a bit too early stage to use. We still want to use it in the future though, and we'll keep an eye on AjaxIM's development - it shows great potential and we still think it would be a great way to allow player and NPC communication in the game.
We'd actually like to encourage the development of AjaxIM - we're not rich, so for now it could maybe be as a small $500 bounty, for a feature that would be useful to integrate the chat in our game context. I was for example thinking of something like adding hooks for bots (which we would use to implement NPCs), but this is something we could discuss. If you are interested, you can have a look at http://farsides.com/wiki/Mission_engine to see what we're trying to do, and let me know if you think of something else that would be interesting.
