Hi, A topic that we didn't get a chance to discuss until now: when we need additional developers (or designers, etc.) on a project, would it be good to have several developers working in the same contracting company ?
Despite the obvious advantages (less recruitment work, easier communication between coders from the same company, etc.), I think it has some disadvantages, so I wanted to discuss it here to get opinions. The fact that two developers work in the same company brings two main issues: 1) It would make Farsides more dependent on a single company 2) The developers would work in the same office - that's a surprising issue, I know : ) It's a good thing to be next to each other, it's much easier to communicate, and usually more fun than sitting alone... But when everyone can't be in the same room, it creates issues for those who are away. I've seen it in quite a few companies - you tend to get a communication gap between the group that work next to each other and those who work remotely. So at the end, I think we should limit ourselves to one person per contracting company (except project managers of course, since this is fairly standard). Otherwise, even if it would be a good thing on the short term, in the long term it could create structural issues that would be very hard to fix. But let me know what you think about this. Xavier.
