I did an upgrade on my system to php5.3.2 in order to replicate the
homepage hack bug and i still cannot.
this means that the problem is most likely somewhere else and it will be
waste of time on your part to change the version.
i'm going in right now on the live server and try to fix it.
i'll let you know when it's fixed and pushed to the repository
