Hi,

I had a discussion a few days ago with Daniel, my former boss at nevrax and
now a good friend. He had an interesting idea that I’d like to discuss with
you.

He confirmed to me (as everyone does) that it is currently extremely
difficult to raise funds without a first version of the game with proven
metrics. But he told me that company such as Gameforge, Gamigo, Bigpoint are
currently investing a lot in third party projects. The fund a part of the
dev (up to 500k€ apparently), and provide support (live support, visibility
on their portals, etc) against royalties. I don’t have the details yet. Why
this strategy from them ? It looks to me like externalization of the risk,
putting some limited amount in various projects in order to avoid missing
the next big thing, and being everywhere the competency is.

What do you think ?

I have a few contacts in these companies so I can dig a bit, but first I
wanted to know what you think and if you have more details than me on this.

Thx
D
