That's the way I understand it too; if you look at different time periods, repeat visitors + new visitors = visits. > · When I look at the referring web sites > (http://community.hackit.cx/stats/web/index.php?owa_period=today&owa_site_id=&owa_do=base.reportReferringSites), > is it supposed to be external sites from where the user comes ? Because the > url of these sites are pages of community.hackit.cx, so I’m unclear. Yup - most likely a bug or a wrong setting somewhere - it shouldn't log those pages. I don't know how to fix it, but for now there isn't a lot of pages, so we can always see the other websites in the list. > o Would it be possible for me to access the monitoring tool of google > that you use to follow up ? It's just that some of the visits are not shown in OWA - for example all the visits through the adwords campaign did not show up. Awstats does not show exactly the same information - it doesn't profile individual users, and relies purely on the server logs to get his information. While on the other side, OWA uses javascript on the client and dedicated calls in the PHP code, which allows to track more precisely what is happening. > o Finally, I tried a few keywords (like ‘hack game’) on google but > did not see a hackit link, can you explain briefly how the google ads > campaign work or provide me with a link that explains the stuff ? Yes, I only put a few euros in the campaign, so I've paused it - it's just to get a first feel of the type and cost of trafic we can get this way. Also, even when it's running, whether you're seeing the ad or not depends on the ongoing level of the "auction" for specific keywords, or content websites. Cf http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AdWords for a first overview.
