Hey, Xavier.
Thanks for taking my suggestions into consideration. I have a few ideas on how
to incorporate the alteration of websites into hackit, if you would like to
hear
them.
1) You could give points every time 100 words are typed in alteration to
websites.
2) You could give double points when the player alters many websites (eg.10
sites) in a particular genera of sites.
3)give them more tools to use for alterations, like emoticons and drawing tools
for every level they pass.

Hope these help. Let me know if you need any other ideas. I'm full of them.

Hi Shoshanah,

: ) I know what you mean, it's true it's still far from being a good game at
the
moment! No worries about being harsh, it's deserved - right now it's more of a
prototype than a fully fleshed out game.

Usually games that are that early in production aren't publicly available (game
developers usually keep them locked up until it's more finished), but we still
wanted to get it out to let people interested by the concept to try it.
Otherwise, there wouldn't be an opportunity to discuss with you today, and
that's what we are after. : )

There are a lot of discussions going on about the future of the game right now
(there is still a lot to do!), and having your comments and ideas is really
important, it helps to go in the right direction. For example, it turns out
that
the ability to change the content of the websites that have been hacked is
something that is important for a lot of people - and I'm one of those people.
:
) As I was saying to Kerry earlier (he's another player that had the same
comment about the need to modify the websites we hack), the only issue at the
moment is to see how it would fit into the gameplay. What would you like to
change on the websites? How would it relate to the rest of the game?

For now, the next big feature will be the addition of missions in the game. It
will give the ability to use the content of the Web a bit more, for example by
getting to find a piece of information hidden somewhere on the net. You would
have to find and hack the right website. But there is more... If you want, I
can
even share with you some of the design documents that are being worked on at
the
moment.

In any case, thanks a lot for your honest comments. I really appreciate it, and
I know that I'm not alone in this. The other contributors and developers CC'ed
in this discussion will pay a lot of attention to what you have to say.

Cheers,
Xavier.

hack-it was a fun game- if you're bored out of your mind. This may sound harsh,
but it only keeeps you entertained for a few minutes. You could make it much
bertter if it could let the users actully change things on the websites we
hack.
Do this or everyone will lose interest real fast, Inu

Hi InuHanami
I just saw you had created an account on HackIt - thanks! Quite impressive that
you went that far, considering how early we are in the development of the game.

What you saw is basically only a first prototype - something to get a feel of
what the game can be one day.

I'm thus very interested in knowing what you think about it - would you mind
spending 2-3 minutes to tell me (and the other developers from the project, who
will also receive your answer) how it was to play the game? Do you have any
remarks?

Thanks!
Xavier.
NB: Also, if you have questions, or if you'd like to know more about the
project, let me know. It's open source, so you could even contribute if you
want
: )
