Yes there are and it almost has traveled through our internal validation process. But that means that our subscription customers will have it available hopefully in the next couple of weeks. As to the free download there it won't land as we need to give people some incentive to also allow us to make a living. The product seems to be to good to make people pay the very modest subscription fee so this will eventually also influence the development pace. A lot of people still don't get the difference between Open Source and Freeware which is a pity. That normally wouldn't be a big problem if we had a big community but that takes time and the previous years don't help there as most people have abandoned the whole Open Source bacula line.

How much is likely to break if I introduce an “experimental” > file daemon into an ecosystem of “current release” directors and > storage daemons? The gap is quite big almost a year in new features. Then most features are in the storage daemon and director and the bug fixes are backported normally from the bleeding edge to the stable versions. So it might work with the normal caveats that a newer version is normally not supported with older daemons. Then again worst case it will blow up your client and not the storage and director as the actual storage doesn't change. Also experimental can contain bugs which we eventually iron out but as of tomorrow it will have a new slew of features so that make things a bit less stable. -- Marco van Wieringen [email protected] Bareos GmbH & Co.
