Hello All, I'm a new user of Bareos in France and i'm lost with the "Automatic Volume Recycling". After reading the documentation, i get stuck on this problem. Currently I use Netvault Backup and it works like this :
- I do a full backup once a month - I do a incremental backup every day - The volume (tape in Netvault) is automatically reused if there is two full backup on tapes. - If a laptop is absent for many weeks or month, the tapes will be blocked (its normal because there is just one full backup). In Bareos, this parameter does not exists. For example : If i have a one full backup in volumes and few incrementals : My job retention for my client is : 1 month My file retention for my client is : 1 month My volume retention for my pool is : 1 week If all volumes are "full" and a new backup start ,all data in my volumes will be deleted after 1 week or after 1 month ? Because if i only one full backup in my laptop and i'm going on vacations for two weeks, my backup is automatically deleted ? If that's the case, i lose all data if my laptop crashed and i need to restore data.
