Wow thanks so much for all the response, I really appreciate! I tried a restore, but it hung. Waited a while, I got back into it, hung again.
Then waited even longer, tried again, it hung... In the end I saw at least 4-5 CPU cores completely occupied with MySQL. It got like stuck and new backup jobs don't run either :( I can't imagine this is just MySQL not good, we have lot's of MySQL with pretty heavy stuff and (almost) never seen things like this.
