Dear Andreas
I was building from bareos_19.2.6.orig.tar.gz
<https://download.bareos.org/bareos/release/latest/xUbuntu_18.04/bareos_19.2.6.orig.tar.gz>

which I assumed to be the latest source code distribution. I have checked
once more. There is a later one in bz2 format (bareos_19.2.7.orig.tar.bz2
<https://download.bareos.org/bareos/release/latest/xUbuntu_18.04/bareos_19.2.7.orig.tar.bz2>)

that I overlooked.

Dear Jon,

assuming that the 16.04 repository do not contain newer versions of bareos,
I opted for compilation on own. Adding the path to the 16.04 repository of
bareos to the configuration of the package system (as you suggested), I
now realize that also packages containing bareos V19.2.7 are available
for cpus  with i386 architecture.

Thanks for your help to both of you,

Tilman
