Your BlackBerry can (for now?) only fullfill one function at a time. So, if the SD-card is mounted, you can not use the barry-tools. You should make clear no driver is connected to the USB-interfaces of your phone. You would probably see that one of the USB-interfaces of your phone is connected to the usb_storage driver (you can find this information in /proc/bus/usb/devices). The barry-tools try to disconnect the device from the usb_storage driver, however this will fail if the SD-card is mounted. So, please try the barry-tools again after unmounting the SD-card.
