I got a new BlackBerry Curve from AT&T (v4.2.2.170) and have been trying to sync it with Kubuntu amd64. I compiled my own packages from the tar for 0.13-1.2 (though I got the same results with 0.12-1). Barry gets tantalizingly close to synchronizing, but it isn't completing. I think my problems appear related to other reports (such as Paul Moir's post on Aug. 10) but I haven't seen any solutions.
The synchronization starts just fine, and gets everything out of Kontact successfully. When it starts trying to send to the BlackBerry I get a long pause and my load average climbs over 14. It appears that barry is eating up all of my RAM and I'm swapping. Top reports that os-plugin is taking VIRT 5137m, RES 3.5g. Then I get the errors listed in the log below. Some of my calendar appointments made it into the BB (the missing ones all look like repeating appointments--perhaps that is a separate bug). None of my contacts are in the BB. I didn't have any BB appointments before the sync, but my BB contacts did not get created in Kontact. Given the success seen by others, I wonder if there is a setting that I can change to allow this to work. I always disable my password before trying to synchronize. I have content protection disabled. I have had the same results with content compression enabled or disabled (it is currently enabled). I do have SIM security enabled. I tried unloading usb_storage, but still got the same results. I appreciate the excellent work you have done with the Barry Project. If you can give me some pointers in solving this problem, I would appreciate it. I would be happy to get you any other information that would useful.
