Richard,
I helped Chris Frey find a bug that also caused unbounded memory usage,
it was related to items with categories defined.  That fix is in CVS,
and perhaps it will fix your problem.

I also noticed that recurring events are not implemented; I hope to
start working on that soon.  Recurring events authored on the Blackberry
do seem to be converted.
