I have had similar behavior with my pearl. I use Gentoo, on 32bit. I noticed that this behavior went away when I removed the berry_charge module from my kernel. It may be coincidence, but I believe it is a good start. Remember that a kernel may autoload a module as well, so ensure that isn't happening too. Oh, and the kernel module 'conflicts' with the barry programs. HTH Mick
