The 8007 ID has been added to CVS, so if you're running a CVS snapshot from Adam Williamson's mandriva packages as you mentioned above, this may have already been fixed for you. I don't have a Storm, so I don't know how the Blackberry reacts when in these different Product ID modes. Please try a newer CVS snapshot, and let us know how it goes.
