No, that's not what I meant. :-) I meant that Fedora is not one of the distros with stellar opensync support, so if you're looking for a good opensync experience, you might not want to start there. Fedora 11 sounds like this is changing, but I haven't tested it yet. > Since the opensync library seems to be a big problem, can't you generate > the barry rpms using static linking? But Barry doesn't exist in a vacuum. It needs other plugins and software to work in cooperation, for syncing to make any sense. I could also package Barry + opensync 0.3x + Evolution plugin + KDE plugin + some kind of GUI, for multiple distros, but then I'd be making the same mistake Fedora 9 and 10 did, by jumping the gun on opensync releases, and it would be a whole lot of work that I can't handle right now. Even Fedora had trouble handling it. I need to focus on Barry releases, and occasionally send patches to the opensync devel team so that a real opensync 0.4x release happens sooner. On the other hand, there *are* amazing volunteers out there, like Nicolas Vivien, who make binary packages anyway. If you want to experiment with opensync 0.3x, with binary packages created by one of the guys who really made Barry 0.3x support happen, try it out on Ubuntu/Debian. :-) http://www.progweb.com/modules/blackberry/opensync/ I don't intend to leave Fedora 11 in the dust. I've installed it in a VM, and hope to play with it soon. - Chris ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Are you an open source citizen?
