You can also install build dependencies using apt-get builddep barry IIRC. It 
may be apt-get build-dep barry or barry-util. For this to work, ubuntu has to 
have the barry source in their archive (I don't know if they do).

Yes, I'm planning to.  I just haven't gotten to it yet.

It should be fairly easy to do yourself, if you install all the build
dependencies listed here:

        http://www.netdirect.ca/software/packages/barry/dependencies.php

Then grab the latest git:

        git clone git://repo.or.cz/barry.git barry

And build:

        ./buildgen.sh
        fakeroot -- debian/rules binary

The .deb files will end up in the parent directory.
