Thanks, that was very helpful. There was indeed a filter and I managed to remove most users from the Trashcan. There are a couple of them that cannot be deleted because they are linked to other objects, which I thought was weird because I don't think they ever logged in to the system, but I'll try to find out what objects they may be linked to, so I can delete them.
