Hi, I agree, plug-ins for BASE2 are non-trivial to develop using the full Java-interface. One could opt for writing BASE1 style plug-ins working with BASEfiles for export/import and use the Base1PluginExecuter. BASE1 plugins are simply external binaries accepting a file for import, and can generate many files for storage in BASE (as files or in the dynamic table). FAirly straight forward and fast dev time.
We are also developing a java wrapper to make life easier for non-java plug-in programmers. Since I am working with that it may take some time before it is released since I cannot devote too much time on it. The Manual transform creator is basically a GUI dialogue allwing you to add result files in an experiment (bioassay sets tab) analysis tree. The file(s) will be stored for sharing, storage and later use. If the file is in BASEfile format you can even import into the database for further analysis in BASE.
