You probably saw this comment coming, but I'm posting it for others'
benefit:  The results of so many people picking registrars based solely
on price is an often gruesome example of Moen's Law of Bicycles

When customers understand a product or service only very poorly, they
tend to choose based on the only factor they fully understand: price.
This drives down the overall quality of products or services offered
throughout that industry, through market dynamics, as an indirect result
of the pervasive race for bottom dollar.
