I finally got a chance to talk with the manager of the Newark/Thornton Round
Table Pizza about our "test visit" and whether she thought they could take
us on an every-Monday-night booking. She said she did not think it would be
a problem, and that if they did see a conflict -- say a huge group wanting a
one-shot booking -- they would let us know in advance and try and reach an
accommodation with us.

(Personally, I think that if we could have a couple of weeks' notice of a
single disruption, assuming it didn't happen very often, that we could
handle that.)

There is one minor issue regarding room bookings. Because they do a fair
number of bookings and have also had some no-shows (which cost them money,
of course), they now have a policy of taking a credit card number to
guarantee a room booking. We can cancel up to the day before on any given
booking, but if we do not cancel and if we do not show up, they will charge
the card in question a $50 cancellation charge. I don't think that's
unreasonable, and I put up my own credit card to guarantee the Walter Hunt
meeting on July 26.

The manager there will be on vacation in early July, so if we wanted to make
an ongoing every-Monday-night commitment to them, I think it would be best
to start with the July 26 meeting and to remain at the Stevens Creek
location (assuming availability) through July 19.
