The actual round-by-round tally, as I have it in my notes, is as follows. I
urge the tellers committee to correct me if I got it wrong.

Round 1 2 3
Hick'ry Pit 13 13 22
Newark RTP 13 13 13
Stvns Crk RTP 8 10 -
None of Above 3 - -
Spoiled - 1 2

Total w/Pref 37 37 37
To Elect 19 19 19

If the ballots announced as "spoiled" above were actually "blank" or "no
further preference," the bottom portion of the report changes to:

Total w/Pref 37 36 35
To Elect 19 19 18
No Pref/Blank - 1 2

This is because spoiled or illegal ballots (those with markings you can't
interpret) count toward the total votes cast, but blank ballots (including
those where all the voter's preferences have been eliminated) are abstentions
and don't count toward the total. As BASFA doesn't recognize fractional votes,
a majority, of course, is the lowest whole number of votes that is more than
half the total ballots expressing a preference. (Not 50%+1, nor 51%; there are
plenty of ways of mis-stating what a majority is. Write to me privately if you
want an earful on the subject.)
