With the Secretary absent and nobody having remembered to print out the
minutes posted to the e-mail list, approval of previous minutes was
postponed to the next meeting.

The Treasurer being absent, there was no financial report.

There was no new or unfinished business.

Announcements:

Kevin announced that tonight would be the first of three Hugo Awards
Discussion nights.

Fred Moulton announced that Wessex Bookstore in Menlo Park is for sale.

Chris Garcia announced that the Science Fiction Fan Film Fund will be
putting on an exhibition this October.

Dave Clark is giving way surplus Body Lights and watch batteries, as
Cargo Cult is discontinuing them.

Reviews:

Nathan reviewed parties at Further ConFusion. Friday night FurTribe:
Techno-dance theme party, very fun. Con's main dance was spectacular,
with great FX, lights, etc. Worth what he tried but was unable to pay
because nobody in the evening was set up to sell memberships (silly
people). Deidre Saoirse Moen followed on, saying that she had a good
time, that FurCon are a fun group and worth full price. She'll attend
again.

Kevin reviewed not being able to come to FurCon because his job suddenly
went into overdrive; however, in compensation for what amounted to two
weeks of 12-hour days, his boss is letting him take some extra days off
in early February, so he will be able to fly to Glasgow to attend a
committee/staff weekend for this year's Worldcon.

Julie Porter reviewed MacWorld. Things have changed: some people
complained that it should have been called PodWorld. She discussed
details of product announcements, including the Mini-Mac. Show was worth
what she paid for it using a half-price coupon. Various technical
digressions followed.

Nathan reviewed _Battlestar Galactica_ on the SCIFI Channel, saying it's
worth watching.

Mike Miyake says William Shatner is great on _Boston Common_.

Auctions: We auctioned a Star Wars action figure for $1 and a Copy of
_Kripos of Videssos_ for $1.15.

Rumor that "The theme of next year's Further Confusion will be
'Furries...Gone WILD!'" was adopted by acclamation.

The meeting adjourned at 8:33 PM, followed by a discussion of the "lower
third" of the Hugo Awards ballot.

Kevin Standlee
Acting Secretary
