Sorrows' to help its chance for a Hugo nomination
The President reported that he's been slacking off
Nathan established a Baycon party jar
Announcements:
Ed announced that Walter Willis's sister had in fact died & David
Morrison will dominate Silicon's science track
Frank announced that Halle Berry & George Bush were up for Razzie
nominations
Kevin announced there is a new Emerald City - as well as Hugo
nomination recommendations from NESFA and Emerald City
Reviews:
Kevin reviewed a collection of 4 CD, the 'George Tirebiter Collection'
as it was amusing and worth what he paid for it
Ed reviewed Alan Dean Foster's 'Midworld' as pretty darned good &
'Mid-Flinx' as not as good science fiction novels; reviewed Further
Confusion as he really enjoyed the convention as a science fiction con
with furries added and bought himself a tail and ears
Nathan follow-on'd that he had fun there and found it a younger
crowd than many sf cons
Nathan reviewed the Toy Show as he picked up a couple of goodies &
thought it worth free coupon entry & Mike follow-on'd that it was also
worth free entry
Dave C reviewed the new jibjab.com cartoon as it was worth the time he
spent on it
I reviewed 'House of Flying Daggers' as it had a lot of fun martial arts
in it, good filming and pretty characters, worth full price; while Chris
follow-on'd that it was a remake of a film called 'Blazing Guns'; Trey
follow-on'd that it hurt his suspension of disbelief
Mike reviewed 'Larva' on the SciFi channel as it was like watching a
train wreck - that degree of awful - and almost worth the cost of basic
cable
Ed also reviewed '1634 the Galileo Affair' by Flint as very good
alternative history & worth full price
Chris reviewed 'White Noise' as it inspires him to rise up and destroy
its studio, it's that bad & it made him a better leader: he wanted to
organize the townsfolk with the pitchforks
We auctioned off stuff = a video & book for $2.00; 2 books for .75; 2
books for $1.00; 2 more books for $1.25 & a Further Confusion program
booklet for .75; and THEN a box of old Analogs from 1956 - 1964 for $51.00
We adjourned at = 9:23 pm
And the rumor of the week was ‘Carson is STILL funnier than Leno, even now'
