BASFA Baycon Party 2005 It all started at high noon on Friday at the check-in counter at the hotel. After a short mix-up about the rooms, Fred Moulton and Ed Stokke helped setup along with me my sister Tina and my wife Caralyn; we also had a couple other helpers. Thank you to everyone who helped out during the party, we could not have done it without you (or had as much fun!).
As the Raffia went up and the drinks were mixed we enjoyed the delicious sandwiches and goodies provided by PSRT Catering, and everyone's favorite, Caralyn's layered bean dip and chips. The party started on Friday night at 8:30pm as we were serving RED and GREEN Slurm, the Green Slurm was a mixture of Gin and Mountain Dew, and the Red Slurm was a mixture of Rum and Tiki Punch. The favorite libation of the night was the Red Slurm and a mixture of the two that came to be known as a "Wormulon Ice Tea". The crowd on Friday night seemed very mellow and there were not as many aliens as we had seen in the past, it all made for a very pleasant evening and gave me a chance to go out and enjoy the other parties and mingle with creatures from alternate universes. On Saturday night the party started again at 8:30 and really took off after the Masquerade. Standing room only was the scene until the Klingon slave auctions started just outside on the patio. The party was still brisk with conversation, many people coming and going enjoying the music, the food and of course the Slurm. Some people liked the party so much that they joined the club, we signed up six new BASFA members over two days. Again, I would like to say thank you to all the BASFA members who donated their money and time to make this party possible, and I would also like to thank the Double Tree Hotel and the Baycon Staff for making this all possible. Until next time, remember... Party, Party, Party, Party! -Nathan Slemmer BASFA Party Committee Chairperson
