Cancellation was received while they were filming what became the final
episode (#13, "Alienville"). What _really_ killed it was yet another
stupid, schizophrenic CBS scheduling move (for no good reason) from
Friday nights to Tuesdays, which caused an immediate, sharp ratings
slump as of the next episode aired, and the network then cancelled
the series literally the next day.

One of the things that made it interesting was it was a rare case of a
genuinely ensemble cast. Of course, that protected the producers
against one of the hazards of successful series: key actors who
ask more money with each renewal.

Speaking of movies, don't forget Donnie Darko. Unique.
